How to choose your doors
Three things decide a door: material, configuration and energy performance. Steel is the most affordable and very secure but can dent and conduct heat; fiberglass costs a little more, shrugs off dents and rot, looks like real wood and insulates better in our humidity. Configuration covers single vs. double, sidelights, transoms, glass and hardware — all built to your opening. For efficiency, look for an insulated core and weatherstripping that genuinely seals. A storm door is optional but adds a weather buffer and ventilation.
